Paul Craig Roberts Corrects the WWII Record

I was close to the Bielski family in the 1970s before the WWII story of the “Forest Jews” was popularized in the 2008 film Defiance and I attended family gatherings and holiday celebrations at their home in Brooklyn. There is no doubt about their ordeal and the ultimate triumph of their people, although Zus Bielski said that there would never be peace in Israel.

So far Zus has been proven right.

Paul Craig Roberts, a provocative writer and highly effective truth teller makes the point in his recent Institute for Political Economy blog that there are two sides to the story and notes the following regarding US treatment of German POWs.  Roberts is also a former US Assistant Treasury Secretary (1981-1982).

“As for Eisenhower, John Wear holds him accountable for the intentional deaths of one million German POWs due to starvation and exposure.  American and British war propaganda created such a monstrous picture of Germans that the victorious allies did not think of Germans as human.  The predominance of the English language over German meant that the Anglo-Americans controlled the narrative.”
